Creating Tomorrow’s Global Leaders Today

At a school in Lakeside, California, kids is doing something that might surprise you.

They laugh on the playground. They raise their hands in class. They learn math and science, just like any other students. But here’s the twist—some of them do it in Mandarin. Others, in Spanish. And by the time they leave Riverview International Academy, they’ll be fluent in at least two languages. Some, even three.

This is Riverview International Academy, a place where kids don’t just learn about the world—they learn how to speak to it.

“I didn’t think my son could learn another language at five years old,” one mother says, shaking her head with a smile. “Now he corrects my Spanish at home!”

It’s part of what makes this school special. Most students here start as English speakers. But from the moment they walk into their classrooms, they’re surrounded by a new language. In the Spanish program, little ones start with 90% Spanish instruction and work their way to half-and-half by fifth grade. In the Mandarin program, it’s a steady mix—half in English, half in Mandarin.

It’s hard work, but it pays off.

“I love when I go to a restaurant, and I can read the Spanish menu,” says one third-grader. “And my friend speaks Mandarin, so we practice at recess.”

This is about preparing kids for a future where they can connect with people from different backgrounds, understand new cultures, and maybe even change the world.

At Riverview’s two campuses, teachers guide, support, and celebrate every small victory. There are days when kids struggle to find the right word. But there are also moments—big, exciting moments—when a child realizes they just understood an entire book in another language.

Riverview prepares kids to think globally. To be curious. To see the world from different perspectives.

By high school, many Riverview students earn the California Seal of Biliteracy. Some even earn a triliteracy seal. Others earn college scholarships for their language skills.

At Riverview, they don’t know exactly where the future will take their students.

But they do know that wherever they go, they’ll be ready.

Because at Riverview International Academy, they’re creating tomorrow’s global leaders today.
