San Diego-based Cohn Restaurant Group has opened a new restaurant in La Mesa called BO-beau kitchen + garden. It is the company’s 16th full-service restaurant. The location at 8384 La Mesa Blvd. previously housed Gingham restaurant. BO-beau in La Mesa is a sister restaurant to Cohn’s BO-beau kitchen + bar that has operated in Ocean Beach since 2010. BO-beau in La Mesa is owned by David and Lesley Cohn with operating partners Michelle Kveen and Deborah Scott.
Interior designer Philippe Beltran has created a bohemian-chic space with an array of authentic antiques and a children’s play area in the form of a retrofitted school bus, allowing kids to play without leaving their parents’ sight. Executive chef Benjamin Moore was previously chief de cuisine at Barona Casino’s two restaurants. The menu in La Mesa is similar to the menu at the Ocean Beach location, which includes Brussels spouts, French onion soup and boeuf bourguignon, along with new items such as roasted jalapeno deviled eggs and tender port belly flatbreads. More than 20 local craft brews on are on and wine lovers will have a choice of nearly 50 different choices.
