The Challenge Center, located at 5540 Lake Park Way, at Sunset Park in La Mesa, has announced the addition of Barbara Mower as director of development. She will be involved in fundraising, donor relations, volunteer leadership and business development. Prior to joining the Challenge Center, she led fundraising for an independent school and worked in human resources and finance positions at Life Technology and General Electric. Mower also has led best-practices training sessions for Fortune 200 companies, including Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, DaimlierChrysler, Microsoft Corp. and The Home Depot. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y. She has volunteered locally with the San Diego Food Bank and Monarch School for the Homeless. The non-profit Challenge Center, founded in 1987, provides skilled physical therapy rehabilitation, specialized assisted fitness training and wellness programs for physically challenged people.
