XETV/San Diego 6 is planning the station’s 60th anniversary in 2013. Chuck Dunning, vice president and general manager of XETV/San Diego 6, said he is looking for old photos and favorite memories from current and former employees and friends. Photos and videos can be sent to 60Years@SanDiego6.com.
As part of the celebration, Channel 6 is planning a series of “Happy Birthday” vignettes from dignitaries and celebrities, programming marathons featuring best-known shows from the 1950s through the 2000s, as well as vintage promos and commercials from long-running clients. An alumni party is expected to be held in the spring
XETV was the second TV station to serve San Diego. After KFMB went on the air in 1949, XETV arrived on April 29, 1953, followed by KGTV (then KFSD) in September 1953.
