The La Mesa Woman’s Club has awarded five $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors from Grossmont Union High School District schools. This year’s recipients include: Joshua Munoz, Grossmont High School; Katharine Moses, Allison Edmonds and Gabriel Smith, Valhalla High School; and, Rosalinda Diaz, Mount Miguel High School. Winners were selected on the basis of grade point average, scholastic aptitude test scores, quality of essay, class ranking, extracurricular activities, community involvement, employment, types of courses taken and future goals, according to Marjoree Howard, chair of the La Mesa Woman’s Club Education Committee. This is the 37th year the La Mesa Woman’s Club has awarded scholarships to high school seniors, she said.
