El Cajon City Council and auto dealerships to partner

The El Cajon City Council has voted to support the establishment of an El Cajon Auto Dealership. The council recently authorized the city manager Doug Williford to expend general fund revenues, not to exceed $10,000, as a 50 percent match with the dealerships for the cost of creating an auto association that will involve itself in activities that will be mutually beneficial to the various dealerships in El Cajon. Funds will be allocated for incorporation documents and establishment of voluntary assessment fees for the participating dealerships.
According to a press statement, city council member Bill Wells said some financial participation by the city to assist in creating the auto association will send a strong message regarding the city council’s commitment to economic development and business partnership within the community. The statement said auto dealers play a key role in El Cajon’s economic development, including significant revenues to the city.
