Flour Power Cakery begins 32nd year in business

Flour Power Cakery, 2389 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon, has begun its 32nd year in business, reports owner Cecelia Greenaway-Davis. Greenaway-Davis founded the East County-based bakery in March 1983 after taking a cake decorating class through a local adult education program. Over the past three decades, the family’s three children have worked in the family-owned cakery at various times. Today, son Ashley Davis oversees day-to-day operations as well as future growth planning for the bakery side of the business to include an expanded line of pastries, cookies, cupcakes and cake bars.

Flour Power is one of San Diego County’s largest providers of wedding cakes. Cakes are served in scores of local hotel banquet rooms, country clubs, restaurants and private venues. The El Cajon location features a display area, meeting area for customer consultation and tastings and baking production kitchen. In January 2010, Flour Power moved from the north side of Fletcher Parkway to the south side of the same street. Flour Power also has operated since the late 1980s a wedding salon and bridal tasting showroom in La Jolla.

Flour Power is known for an assortment of cakes in more than 20 flavors, as well as custom decorating designs, including the capability to fulfill elaborate special requests. All-occasion theme cakes can be designed for a variety of special events and celebrations, including children’s birthdays, graduations, bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs, first communions, retirements, bridal showers, baby showers and quinceaneras, as well as engagement, office and dinner parties.
