The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD), a taxpayer-supported public agency that supports various health-related community programs and services in San Diego’s East County, has approved a $29,800 grant to the East County Family YMCA for the purchase of specialty exercise equipment at the McGrath Family YMCA facility in Rancho San Diego. The equipment, designed to improve strength and range of motion, will be especially helpful to seniors and others with limited mobility, YMCA officials said. The new equipment will be part of an expanded 7,500-square-foot expansion of the upstairs wellness center and exercise area at McGrath. YMCA said the total cost for the wellness center expansion is $105,760, and additional funds are expected from private donors in the community.
