Grossmont Healthcare District to support hospital’s Heart Walk team

June 17, 2024 – Our town took a magical trip down memory lane today. The Model T Ford Club of America rolled into town for their 2024 National Tour.

Dozens of these magnificent Model T’s lined our streets. It felt like stepping back in time.

The visitors took a stroll through our town’s rich history, from the old Lakeside Inn, the Auto Speedway route, made famous by racing legend Barney Oldfield, to our charming historic buildings and homes.

The Lakeside Historical Society opened their doors, welcoming everyone to explore the chapel, museum, Gift Shop, and the Speedway monument. It was a little slice of the past brought back to life.

Their visit was short, but the memories will last a lifetime. A huge thank you to the Model T Ford Club of America for stopping by and making the day in our hometown so special.

The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD), a public agency that supports various health-related community programs and services in San Diego’s East County region, will continue its support of the American Heart Association’s San Diego Heart Walk, to be held Saturday, Sept. 15 in Balboa Park. The GHD board of directors recently approved a $5,000 donation to Grossmont Hospital’s 2012 Heart Walk team of walkers. GHD has supported the American Heart Association for the past 15 years.
The hospital’s walk team is expected to include more than 2,500 employees, family members and friends of Sharp HealthCare. The team is typically one of the largest at the Heart Walk event, according to Sandy Pugliese, Sharp Grossmont Hospital community relations manager. The 21st annual San Diego Heart Walk is expected to draw more than 10,000 walkers. For more event information, visit
