Meet the Padres P.A. voice at Grossmont College’s 50th anniversary Open House, Saturday, April 14

Radio station on-air personality Frank Anthony will serve as emcee for Grossmont College’s world record attempt at noon Saturday, April 14, during the college’s 50th anniversary Community Open House. Anthony, a DJ and production director at 105.7-FM The Walrus, XX Sports Radio 1090-AM and ESPN Radio 1700-AM, will also greet guests and sign autographs at The Walrus exhibit booth in the college’s Main Quad. An El Cajon resident and Grossmont College alum, Anthony has served as the public address announcer for San Diego Padre home games since the tam moved to Petco Park in 2004.

Music lovers, foodies, dancers, amateur scientists, artists, CSI fans, poets, fitness and health devotees, theater lovers, techies, gamers, math whizzes will be invited to celebrate Grossmont College’s golden moment in history at the free Open House. On Friday, April 13, Grossmont College vocal groups will perform at 6:30 p.m. and a Sock Hop dance with a live band playing music from the 60s, 70s and 80s will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.  A department fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14 will feature the latest educational innovations and technologies of Grossmont’s departments and disciplines, including media communications, theater arts, music, health professions, culinary arts, math and English, administration of justice, and exercise science.
