Statewide marketing awards presented to local colleges

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District marketing staff, along with Grossmont College’s marketing and graphics design staff, have been honored with awards from the statewide organization representing community college professionals in marketing, public information, media relations and graphics.

The Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) recently presented four awards to the district, including writing awards for news articles on Cuyamaca College’s wastewater treatment program, Cuyamaca’s 2011 commencement ceremonies and Cuyamaca’s Child Development Center’s 10th anniversary. The college district also received an award in the Media Success category for coordinating a regional press conference that involved all eight community college districts in San Diego and Imperial counties. The May 2011 press conference, hosted at Grossmont College, discussed impacts of the statewide budget crisis in higher education.

Grossmont College was honored with six CCPRO awards, including first-place awards for logo design of the college’s 50th anniversary logo and a radio advertising campaign. An award was also given for a commemorative 50th anniversary book called “Grossmont College, Celebrating 50 Years.” The radio advertising campaign featured a young boy’s voice who said, “Dad, take me to Grossmont College,” with the dad replying, “You’re too young for college” and the boy answering, “I mean Grossmont College football.” Additional CCPRO awards were given for photography and graphics design of the 2011-2012 catalog cover.
