Taylor Guitars introduces Grand Orchestra model

El Cajon-based Taylor Guitars has introduced the Grand Orchestra, a new model of guitar that manages to blend low-end power with balance and responsiveness for a big guitar, the company said. The Grand Orchestra, among the manufacturer’s largest guitars with a body almost 21 inches long and five inches deep, was debuted at the recent National Association of Music Merchants convention. Taylor said its design team originally wanted to “revoice” its Jumbo model, but instead opted to start from scratch and rethink the possibilities of a modern big-bodied guitar. Slightly longer than a traditional Dreadnought model, the Grand Orchestra features a tighter waist and a wider bottom bout to heighten the tonal properties. The body depth was also expanded to increase the air volume. The Grand Orchestra’s price reportedly begins at approximately $3,500.
