The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce will host its upcoming First Friday Breakfast starting at 7:15 a.m. on Friday, June 7, at Grossmont College’s Griffin Center, 8800 Grossmont College Dr., El Cajon. Cost to attend is $20 per person for members, $25 per person for non-members. Breakfast sponsor is the East County Economic Development Council (ECEDC). Jo Marie Diamond, ECEDC president/CEO, will discuss the latest regional economic and growth trends, including expansion in the manufacturing sector and redevelopment projects happening in several East County cities. Also speaking will be Rep. Susan Davis (D-San Diego) and San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob.
Diamond will provide an update on plans to redevelop Gillespie Field into an “Aerotropolis,” the name given to an urban planning concept involving expanding the property surrounding the county-operated airport to become a hub for ripple commercial development. Recently, work began on expanding 70 acres near the site of the Cajon Speedway to include a new taxiway and businesses related to the aeronautics industry.
Breakfast will be provided by Sodexo, food provider at Grossmont College. The program will include networking and announcements. Seating is limited and attendees are requested to RSVP by Monday, June 2. For more information, contact the Chamber at (619) 440-6161, or visit www.eastcountychamber.org.
