The 17th annual East County Senior Health Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 29, at Sonrise Community Church, 8805 Magnolia Ave. in Santee. Admission is free. No advance registration is necessary.
The East County Senior Services Providers, a coalition of community organizations and agencies serving seniors in the East County, said the health fair will feature more than 60 exhibit booths, along with free health screenings for stroke, blood pressure, blood glucose/diabetes, balance and video otoscope.
Information will be available about senior housing, home care services, home safety, fall prevention, health education, advance directives, nutrition services, social programs, caregiving services, educational programs and volunteer opportunities.
Attendees may bring unwanted medications for safe disposal by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. This is part of a prescription drug take back effort aimed at preventing prescription drug abuse.
Sponsors include the Grossmont Healthcare District, a public agency that supports health-related community programs and services in San Diego’s East County region, along with Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Sonrise Community Church, Western Press, City of La Mesa and the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency.
