East County Business News by Rick Griffin
San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution with three local East County branches in El Cajon, La Mesa and Santee, has announced its sponsorship support of the Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure, a 5k run/walk fundraiser to be held starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, in San Diego’s Balboa Park area.
More than 15,000 people are expected to participate either as a walker or timed runner. The event will raise money to help breast cancer patients and their families and provide funds for research. This year’s event will start and finish on the west side of Balboa Park. The start line will be at 6th Avenue at Palm Street and the finish line on Balboa Drive, south of Quince Street. The pre- and post-event activities take place on the grassy area along 6th Avenue between Laurel Avenue and Quince Street. Registration cost on the day of the event is $40 per person for adults, $35 per person for military with I.D., $28 for youth ages 6 to 12 and $10 per person for children ages 5 and under.
