San Pasqual Winery, owned by Mike and Linda McWilliams, has opened winery production operations in La Mesa at 8140 Center St. The new facility, replacing a smaller facility in Pacific Beach, has the capacity to produce up to 5,000 cases per year, the company said. The Center Street location has a tasting room that is open on weekends from noon to 4 p.m. San Pasqual also operates a tasting room and gallery at 8364 La Mesa Blvd. The self-described “urban winery” purchases grapes from local vineyards in San Diego County and other California regions, including Napa Valley, Sonoma, Sierra Foothills, Monterey and Santa Barbara. San Pasqual produces more than 15 wines, including its Summervine Habanero Passionfruit, a Double Gold award winner at the 2013 San Diego County Fair. The winery’s 2010 Lake County Malbec was recently chosen as one of five wines to represent California at an international Malbec tasting in Cahors, France.
