Sycuan and BMW of El Cajon are sponsors of Better Business Bureau golf tourney

The San Diego Better Business Bureau (BBB) is inviting all golfers to play at its 17th annual Gerry Wilson Golf Classic, a fund-raising golf tournament, starting at 11:30 a.m. (shotgun start) on Thursday, June 6, at the Maderas Golf Club in Poway. The tournament will benefit the BBB Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports the free services provided to consumers by the BBB. Sycuan Resort & Casino and BMW of El Cajon are among the tournament sponsors.
Donation to play golf in the fundraiser is $325 per player, which includes a pair of custom-fitted golf shoes or golf sunglasses, along with green fees, cart, raffle tickets, food and beverages on the course, prizes, player awards, lunch and after-golf awards dinner. Also included at the event will be a silent and live auction.
The BBB’s tournament is named in honor of the late Gerry Wilson, a former U-T San Diego newspaper advertising director who served as the BBB’s president/CEO from January 1996 to March 2004. The tournament also will feature its annual “wacky slacks contest” in honor of Wilson, who was known for arriving at the first tee wearing outrageous and multicolored trousers. The golfer wearing the loudest and most ridiculous-looking pants will win a prize, the BBB said.
