Two weekends of Oktoberfest in El Cajon

The Germany American Society of San Diego will host its 42nd annual Oktoberfest, Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 4-6, at 1017 S. Mollison Ave. in El Cajon. The times are 4 to 10 p.m. on Fridays, noon to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Cost to attend is $5 per person, and free to people under age 21 and active military personnel. The authentic German festival will feature traditional German food, including bratwurst, ox-on-the-spit, potato salad, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, red cabbage and a variety of German pastries, along with a selection of German beers, soft drinks and water. Performing will be a band from Guggenbauch-Baum, Germany. Parking is free and a shuttle is available from the El Cajon Transit Center.
